St. Louis Travels

Taking a trip to St. Louis over Valentine's Day weekend turned out to be the perfect mini road-trip. I haven't been to St. Louis in a few years and I really missed the vintage shopping and the Delmar Loop. On our trip we visited the City Museum which neither of us had explored before. I definitely recommend spending a night or two of your weekend exploring the STL City Museum (they have vintage shopping there, too!)
For breakfast we visited the cutest little place on Cherokee Row called Mudhouse. They had an amazing vegan tofu scrambler and french toast with mascarpone. The location of Mudhouse is perfect, too, because of all the antiquing in the same neighborhood!
Flowers and Weeds is also on my must-see flower shop list. It's FULL of plants, flowers and curiosities.
Aside from the City Museum, Retro 101 was my favorite part of the trip because I found a dreamy blue prairie checkered dress that fits me like it was made for me! I'm never disappointed in St. Louis... ♥.

Forgotten Breakfast

About a year ago, my friend and I shared this breakfast together and I never posted the photos. I can't believe they got lost in my archives until now! I prepared this for us in my studio last year and it was so delicious.

Avocado and Cranberry Goat Cheese on Dry Toast

Good morning to you! How was your Thanksgiving? (if you celebrated one). Mine was celebrated in St. Louis this year with my Mom's Sister's family. On the way back from STL we stopped by Trader Joe's and picked up some cranberry goat cheese. I am definitely a sucker for fancy cheese. OMG. It's what I missed most while eating vegan!
There really isn't a lot to do when making this recipe. You just need to gather your favorite spices, an avocado, toast some bread and cut up some cheese.. which can be any kind you like!
I used cumin, cilantro, cinnamon, and powdered ginger on top of my avocado and cheese and it was delicious. Have a wonderful day! XO

Breakfast at Nico's (part two)

My friend Nico made Liz (an MFA costume designer I go to college with) and I breakfast at his apartment a week or so ago. It was such a beautiful morning. We had mimosas, slow scrambled eggs with green onions, roasted mushrooms and broccoli, fresh berries, coffee and home made biscuits. I love having breakfast at Nico's apartment. He is such a fabulous friend! Thank you for everything Nico and Liz! I love you. See the first time I had breakfast at his place!

On the daily

I've been meaning to take more photos of what life is like every day for me. Breakfast, packing orders (I wish this was every day.... soon!), my cat, Joao, and random decor around my apartment. It's these moments that I often forget.... but they can be so beautiful..................

Breakfast at Nico's

Today my friend Nico Brown invited me to his apartment... and he made the cutest breakfast for us! I am so thankful to have someone so kind and talented in my life! He is such a wonderful friend to me. His apartment is absolutely beautiful, too! He is very organized... something I'm not sure I'll EVER understand (although I am trying desperately!) Thanks again for breakfast, Nico!

Blackened Plantains for Breakfast

When I buy Plantains... it's always 3 at a time because I eat them so often! My mom is the one who really got me addicted to their sweet taste... except she chopped them up and put powdered sugar on top! In this recipe, I just warm a skillet with extra virgin olive oil from Trader Joe's and slice the Plantain in half (it's easier to do this with the peel on- then you can take the peel off). I fry them in the skillet until they are blackened and then I like to drizzle La Lechera on top. I also blogged about Plantains made the way my mother taught me. I also made Plantain and Strawberry Pancakes! Let me know how you like it if you do try it.... Happy Monday!

Saturday

outfit: spring rain

It rained right after I got done snapping these photos today. I didn't mind much because this pastel pink jacket is water resistant and perfect for a light rain. Also, I can't be mad because it was one of those Spring rains when the sun is still shining and it's just so pleasant. Today has been a really great day so far. I found out my friend Tracy is quitting Dandelion Vintage in about 5 days and moving to Holland in the fall... which is bittersweet because I'll miss her so much but at the same time I know this is what she needs and it will make her happy. How life changes... but it all still goes on.

I bought some incense yesterday and I'm officially obsessed with burning it in my room in the mornings. My favorite scent is Coco Mango.
This is my breakfast today.. a dessert cup with blackberries, a bushel of grapes, and a pure organic orange cranberry fruit bar. I am still drinking blueberry and mint infused water that I shared the recipe for last week... I put the blueberries and mint in my water pitcher... best idea ever!

Raspberry & blackberry fruit smoothie pancakes.

Vegan Recipe: 1/2 cup natural organic applesauce
2 cups of Bisquick pancake mix
1/2 cup organic raspberries
1/2 cup organic blackberries
1/2 cup of organic soy or rice milk
I am really loving this recipe for pancakes. If you add a lot of blackberries to your pancake mix, it will end up turning purple! It's so much fun. Have fun creating your own smoothie pancakes!

a celebration: 3 weeks vegan

Hi! Happy Halloween Weekend, darlings! I celebrated 3 weeks vegan this Saturday and I've never felt so proud and so healthy! I have been making tofu scramble even when I was just vegetarian but I made it this morning and it was particularly good with vegan sun dried tomato sausage, red peppers, portobello mushrooms and avocados to top it off............................
I am currently drawing two magical creatures as a design for my costume design II class today. I am picking out fabric now and painting the colors on the costumes! I'll show you the result tomorrow!

vegan almond butter pancakes with pumpkin spice syrup and hot apple cider

I made a trip to Curtis Apple Orchard in Champaign, IL yesterday to pick up more of their amazing peaches. When we arrived, they told me peaches were now out of season and they didn't have any more! My heart sunk a little, but I ended up buying pumpkin spice syrup and apple cider instead. I spread crunchy organic peanut butter from Strawberry Fields on top of my pancakes if you were wondering what that was! It was the perfect Autumn treat! I want to make this a tradition every year!♥. P.S. my Grandmother Kutch bought me this 'Polly' mug quite a long time ago when she owned her antique store and I've treasured it ever since. It's amazing. Thank you, Grandma!

Tuesday

we are not two, we are one

When I found this dress at Salvation Army-I WAS SHOCKED. Let me just tell you, it was only $8! I was shocked and stunned and probably wet myself a little when I grabbed it off the rack (they had just tagged it that same day!). I ended up spending $41.. Alright- well, at least I can admit that I have a problem.. right? Can't wait to show you what else I found!!
This dress had a few slight spots on it that I could tell were minimal work to clean so I bought the dress anyway- (who wouldn't for $8??). The wedges are Jeffrey Campbell from Modcloth, and my grandmother Kutch gave me the rhinestone necklace (even though you can't really see it).
This was my breakfast a few days ago!
hope you have a wonderful day! I'm opening at Dandelion Vintage today ALL BY MYSELF! Lawd! I hope I don't set off the alarm or royally mess something up. We did a new display the other day that I can't wait to show you! Styling the mannequins is just my favorite thing ever!!
