Outfit: Uptown Girl

Chicago has been brutally cold lately, but that didn't stop Nathan Adhikari and I from walking out to Montrose Beach in Chicago last week to shoot these photos and explore a bit. I live in Uptown right by Montrose Beach by the way... so close that I actually live on Montrose Avenue. It's glorious living so close to the beach in the Spring, Summer & Fall.... but in Winter it's a hassle. I've been meaning to photograph this necklace from Uncommon Goods for a while now. It has become my favorite necklace and I love the long chain the geode dangles on. It's so beautiful and natural and simple... just my style! I love to just slip it over my head and let it dangle. I am into really earthy jewelry and costume jewelry mostly... this is a really classy and finely made necklace and the purple amethyst with gold detail is so classy. I highly recommend this necklace for gifts. I LOVE it! Since the holiday season is coming up, here are some personal gifts and gifts for women from Uncommon Goods .

Outfit: Andy Warhol Halloween

It's no secret that I am completely obsessed by Andy Warhol's life, art, hobbies, interests, friends and legacy. When I lived in New York City this same time last year, I read a fabulous book on his life from the New York City Library called, "Pop: The Genius of Andy Warhol" and I laughed so many times at his humor and behavior. I went to see his Gold Marilyn and Campbell Soup Cans along with one of his Death & Disaster Paintings with Kate Gabrielle at MOMA in NYC, too! Kate gifted me a fabulous "Warhol Fan Club" pin, too. Thank you so much, Kate! I also picked up a huge carrot juice obsession after learning that is what Andy Warhol drank all of the time. I seriously can't get enough of the Andy Warhol Museum Twitter and I tune into Andy's grave camera that's live 24/7 and it calms me. I adore his work and his style.... a true artist who lived and breathed art yet is so misunderstood at the same time by the general public. I've always been obsessed with designing shoes and it turns out Warhol was quite obsessed with feet & designing shoes as well. I really wish now that I would have gone to the store to buy some silver balloons for this shoot since Andy was obsessed by silver (known to obsess people on amphetamines, which Andy was). He turned the every day into art by taking grocery store items and turning them into art.. thereby questioning, "what is art and what isn't?"

Outfit: Falling with Change

I bought another new wig a few weeks ago in hopes of changing up my look yet again. It seems change is what I revel in lately and I hardly miss the past or feel nostalgic about it. I do look back at the past and wonder about how I made it through or how carefree my life once was, but it seems I am now speeding towards evolving into my own person and I finally feel like an adult. Paying all of your own bills is gratifying, let's just say that. I love my little Chicago studio in Uptown and it's like I have a little piece of paradise. Uptown has been growing on me so much and I really feel the huge potential it holds. There are fun thrift shops all around me and beautiful houses with plenty of places for me to run all my errands. Uptown tends to get a bad name sometimes, but I defend it so much. I am happy to call Uptown my home.... and I'm happy to call Chicago my home, too. I feel like I'm going in the right direction in life and it really feels fresh and new and inspiring. Every day I am a different person from the day before. There are good people in my life in Chicago and I couldn't be more grateful. I will post a studio tour this week so you can see more of my apartment. I'm off to bed. XO

Thank you to Nathan Adhikari who is not only the photographer of this series- but also one of my best friends.

A Portrait of Peyton Stewart

Peyton and I have been friends for a few years now- we met through mutual friends in Urbana Champaign, IL. We both live in Chicago now so this was the perfect opportunity for me to finally have her model for me. Aren't her eyes mesmerizing? I haven't even edited them at all and they are so piercing. She is going to art school here in Chicago and she's so fun to hang out with. She even humored me by holding my stolen hydrangeas and eating this beautiful donut courtesy of Glazed and Infused.... let me tell you- the donut was amazing!
