Outfit: Working for the Weekend

I recently landed a job as a Costume Rental lady at shop called Dallas & Co. Costumes and Magic. I've been working 40 hours a week and it's tiring but I am learning so much about renting and fixing costumes, helping customers achieve the make up design they're dreaming up, and putting together costumes for customers. It is really great experience and a great stepping stone for my future career! I am content because I get to sew and that makes me so happy! I will share photos of the store soon- and I've already shared some snippets on my vine account here and here! It's a REALLY fun place to work!
This blouse was sent to me courtesy of Joules and it is absolutely beautiful! It's the highest quality blouse that I own now because all of my blouses are vintage and thrifted. It's really wonderful to receive something new that no one has worn beside you for once.. haha! It's made from the softest fabric and I love the pleated bib along with the jabot that ties in the front! I will definitely be wearing this blouse for future job interviews and at work! It's very chic and professional. Thank you, Elly! I adore this blouse!

Polly & Hannah's Graduation Party!

Last week Hannah and I had a joint graduation for my graduation from college and her graduation from high school. He had mostly our mutual friends at the party and a lot of yummy food including fruit salad, home made donuts, home made pizza and strawberry limeade! It was extremely windy but we got through it without any rain! My record player was playing as guests arrived and visited with each other and it was really nice to see friends that are graduating, too! I really hope to keep in touch with so many people from U of I, Urbana-Champaign and St. Joseph..... it's a wonderful town to live in while going to college!
The present and card I made for Hannah for her high school graduation!

Outfit: phases of time and nature

I've been thinking about phases today and how human nature and the earth correspond to phases. A new phase of nature is upon us and I couldn't be happier that Spring is blooming all over central Illinois. I can certainly feel myself phasing out of the life I once had as a carefree college student (although I haven't graduated quite yet..) My morals have changed and I've become smarter with investing my time in creative endeavors and working harder than I ever have in my life. I don't regret the past or the phases of my past; they're essential for learning and growing into a better person. As for Spring, I for one am so ready for the sidewalks to fill with beautiful little flower petals falling off trees and looking into a sky purpled by the branches and buds of redwoods.

Paulie Antiques Winter 2013 Lookbook!

These were shot out in St. Joseph, IL, yesterday not far from the location where Joao was lost. It turns out that my new friends Robert and Thena have a 100 acre farm (on which Joao lived for 3 months) with absolutely breath-taking woods. They were unfortunately sick with the flu when we visited the location yesterday, but we thank them so much for letting us photograph on their land (and returning my cat to me)! The winter here has been so mild, lately.... barely even nipping at my ears and toes. It felt a little rushed and chilled at this shoot, and I'm so pleased my idea of candles worked well and kept the girls warm. I wanted to introduce the idea of natural hydrangea flowers in their hair, again, because of the dead feeling of the earth around us. Colorful hydrangeas will appear again in the spring time :) Enjoy the photos........................
