Outfit: Confetti Day

On a sunny day in May 2021, Nathan Adhikari and I rented a car and made our way out to Whilmette, Illinois in Chicagoland and we had such a fun day shooting two looks in the park and at the beach. We have been friends now over 10 years and his influence on my life has been larger than I could have ever imagined. Thank you, Nathan and Sarah for including me in your life.. I am humbled by your generosity and kindness! 

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you might know I name my outfits after some of my favorite songs. This outfit is named Confetti Day after a song by Hot Chocolate. I bought the whole LP a year ago and have loved the band ever since.

Much has changed in my life in the last couple of years since the pandemic.. I started attending college (again!) for Diagnostic Ultrasound and now I currently work for the last two years at Barnes Jewish Hospital in the abdomen and small parts department and I love it. I have completely changed my life and added more talents to my arsenal. I still love arranging flowers, styling fashion shoots, photography, sewing and painting. I find myself yearning to tackle more of these adventures now that I have broken into the healthcare world, but I don't see myself ever stopping ultrasound. What a cool job to investigate the pathology or lack thereof of humans' bodies. I love being able to answer the question of why someone has pain. It is so satisfying to be useful in this way to people. I truly love what I do and I love that I have all these creative hobbies from going to "finishing school" I like to call it. LOL

Outfit: Spring Snow

 Initially, I thought I could never pull off a bob. I tried a few and wrote them off saying that my face was too round or my neck looked funny in them. I decided to give this one a chance today and I am very glad I did. I can see myself maybe wearing this wig out, it's so low maintenance and short. I literally never thought this day would come. As I took photos today it started to snow and the flurries got into my bangs and I was really happy to see the snow despite the declaration of spring... I love to stay indoors and study and create and it's nice to feel like I'm not missing anything that's going on in the outside world. Do you ever feel like that?

 I bought this blouse from First Ladies Vintage (now known as lexicon shop) a few years ago and haven't been able to properly display it until now. It's such a fabulous piece from my friend, Niki!

Washing Your Synthetic Wig

I have to admit that I've been a bit worried about washing my wig. I have had this pink wig since about June or July 2013 and I have been wearing it A LOT. This wig traveled with me to New York City and back- it's been worn to a wedding and countless photo shoots. Needless to say, I've washed my wig cap frequently- but this was the first time I washed my wig. It's very important to remember what your wig can handle. Mine is synthetic (plastic) so I can't use any heat on it. I soaked it in the bathtub in cold water and didn't try using any shampoos or conditioners on it. I soaked it for a good hour and it really helped a lot! It's ok to hang it on a pants hanger with clips for it to dry. Make sure you don't use hot water if your wig is synthetic- it won't be able to handle the heat! You can, however, disinfect it with Isoprophyl Alcohol in a spray bottle. Don't use too much- it could potentially fade the color. Make sure to soak the wig in cold water after disinfecting. 

It's pretty simple, but I would like to hear about other ways to clean synthetic wigs, too! I had also dropped this wig in some mud and the dirt just came off in the bathtub... not harmed! Do you know of any tips for cleaning synthetic wigs, too? How about styling them?
