My Floral Work for Flowers By Stem

Thank you to my awesome boss Stephanie Stopka from Flowers By Stem for hiring me on this season for her weddings! Here are two weddings we set up last weekend. I made the centerpieces with her guidance. This was hardly work at all, it was all so much fun! I can't wait for our next designs, Stephanie! XO

A Journey through my Scrapbook Portfolio

I completed this portfolio a few days before moving to New York City and I am so glad I updated it from my previous one. It was such a unique and fun project and I feel like I still left so much out... I will be updating this throughout the years and I made sure to pick pages that I could remove from the binder in case I needed to update! I love this portfolio- but it's really meant for people to see in person. I have a completely different digital portfolio designed by my friend Benji that I send over the internet to employers. Enjoy!

Sunday

I designed and constructed my first pair of pants!

Over the past couple of months I have been designing and constructing these pants based (but altered) from a commercial Vogue pattern. My teacher suggested that I don't pattern the pants myself, but just alter the pant pattern according to the model's body  (she still uses this method as a professional stitcher for theatrical shows at the University of Illinois, so it is perfectly acceptable, apparently!) The pants didn't turn out exactly like I designed- I decided to go with a simpler design than I originally drew. I made the pants from a cotton fabric that gave me a bit of a problem, but I am happy with them overall. My first pair of pants! Woohoo!
The mock up of the pants I made from muslin cotton. Thanks for going through all of the fittings and photos, Hannah! You were a great model! It means everything to me!
Do you like to sew?

Wednesday

Portfolio Review in Chicago!

Last weekend I traveled to Chicago to the University of Illinois Chicago to present my portfolio along with other theatre students from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. It was a successful weekend in my opinion, but I'm just ready to find a job and realize more about my dreams. I was happy to show everyone who came by my table about the photo-shoots, films, music videos, dances, and productions I've designed. I'm excited for the future and I'm excited to share my hard work with you! Have a lovely Wednesday!
