Department of Eagles is amazing to me.. I know I just posted about them.. but the colors in this music video are astonishing! I would really love to work on a music video like this with such restricted colors like these. So inspiring!

Wednesday

my vintage book collection: The Twenties in Vogue

When my costume design teacher sold most of her books last year.. I was there to buy her treasures (I was beyond excited!!). Among her collection was this lovely book which has taught me oh SO much about the 1920's. I love it!
I'm embroidering bow ties tonight! So excited to show you my progress! They will be done on July 20th! I am making plans with my amazing photographer, Nathan Adhikari, soon to do the photoshoot with models! Eeeps!

Open my eyes so I might see mine.

Wow. All I can say is Panda Bear's 'Tomboy' album did not let me down. I just downloaded it this morning and listened to it all the way through until I couldn't anymore. How is it possible to make such an amazing song from so few words? I find it inspiring to say the very least..
I'm sewing new bow ties like MAD today! You can definitely count on the fact that I'll be listening to this wonderful album while pushing my fabric through my sewing machine! EXCITED! :D

Friday

there's every good reason, to let down your hair..

My good friend and co-worker Tracy saw on my blog that I listed Department of Eagles as one of my favorite bands.. but I never listened to their older music.. then I moved on to other bands. I knew, though, that they had made a huge impact on me. But yesterday, Tracy gave me this album! It seems I've fallen in love with them all over again (a year or two later!) thanks to their older music! Thank you, Tracy!.
This dress was my Great Grandmother Frisina's dress in the 1940's/50's! She will be 99 next month (and I'll be 22!) isn't that astonishing? My wonderful Aunt Kate was kind enough to give it to me after all these years. I really would love to share a photo of her wearing it if she has one!
I just love taking photos at this railroad track.. I've done it about two other times..
 Here....
and here! I love the way it looks at different times of the year!
Tonight Tracy and I are going to the High Dive after we get off work to go see a screamo band.......

Thursday

independence day outfit

Yes, I know.. I'm a bit late posting my outfit for the fourth of July. But, here it is! It was a busy busy day because it was my Great Grandmother Polly's 96th birthday! (I was named after her!) She was so lively and chipper that day- just happy to be alive and celebrating yet another birthday! I love seeing her happy! I really wish I could visit her more often..
so much for my new vintage shoes!
I saw a deer in this clover field after I left and thought about how much I had really missed being in Taylorville. (not enough to move back, though!!)It was a beautiful 4th. I love seeing the fireworks with my family every year.. and since I don't really watch television I felt like it was a spectacular treat that I've been holding out for. Hope your fourth of July was exciting!

Saturday

my first costume design in a music video// Midnight love by Mokhov

This is the music video for the artist Mokhov I've been talking about the past few weeks. It's called Midnight Love. So happy that it's finally ready for you to watch! We all love it and are very proud. Hope you love it, too. We're looking forward to doing more of these soon! Look for me in the green dress at the end!

Here are some screen caps I took from the video.. and, you guessed it- my suitcase made it into the video! This makes me really happy!
I used a vintage tie my mother used to wear when she lived in Hollywood, CA for Allegra's "boyish" look in the beginning.
And, eventually, she looks in the suitcase and finds a wonderful dress I purchased at Modcloth. Then her transformation begins!
I thrifted this hat at Goodwill for only 3 dollars!
We used some shots from around my room.. this is my vanity.
and these are from my studio! Hope you enjoyed the video!
