September 23, 2023 the weather was just perfect. We had such a lovely St. Louis fall day that felt much like summer. I had been designing florals on site at the groom's parents' house in Jacque and Stuart's basement since Thursday. It was so nice that I didn't have to worry about transporting the designs because I knew I could wake up and they were already on site. Friday night I put the boutonnieres in the bride and grooms fridge for safe storing and the bouquets were ready to go at Jacque and Stewart's house next door. This living situation Noah, Sabrina, Jacque and Stuart live in is unique: there are three lots next to each other, and an empty lot in between. The women were to get ready at Jacque and Stuart's house, and the men got dressed at Noah and Sabrina's House just next door. We were to have our first look at noon on Saturday. I arrived to start designing the arch pretty early, then I took my life's quickest shower in Jacque's bathroom and slipped on this peach dress I bought in Pittsburgh in 2016. I had been waiting for YEARS to finally wear this vintage 1960's dress from Three Rivers Vintage! I met this group of friends through my 1st cousin, Max. He is best friends with Noah the groom and his twin brother, Jake. I am so thankful they've been accepting of me since moving to St. Louis.. It means the world to me. The floral theme sabrina chose was perfect and she totally trusted my vision of preserved, spray painted, silk and fresh floral combinations with feathers and bleached pampas grass. I LOVE how they turned out so whimsical and colorful. Truly some of my best work to date. Thanks for believing in my art, Sabrina! My cousin Max has been fixing up his 1960's VW Bus so he brought it that day and when the Black and Red Brass Band showed up to lead us to Bluewood Brewery, he drove the bus in the parade. Luckily, I was able to place some floral items in the bus during the parade so I could dance and enjoy walking with the band to the reception. This was definitely the most fun wedding I have ever been to!
