fashion review: 1920's metal purses

I took this at Lisa's Antique Mall. This purse was around 180 dollars. It is insane how much these purses go for today. If they are in great condition, depending on the detail they can sell for up to 400 dollars.
This compact is built into the purse! Convenient? YEAH! Why aren't these made any more?
Anyway, I am ogling over this purse.
This is the 1920's purse I bought off ebay for 20 dollars. It's a beautiful example. It said on the description that it had some wear and the sides weren't quite intact all the way, but I am actually quite pleased with it. Keep in mind that the purses are this small because, frankly, what else did a woman in the 20's need besides a lipstick and a little bit of money?

So pretty! I have a flapper-esque 1920's Whiting & Davis that I got off of Ebay too :)

They're beautiful, but that pricing is ridiculous. I could see paying that for a new beaded purse, because you're paying for the labour. But with an old beaded purse, the labour has long since been repaid/was done by someone else, so I don't think they should cost any more than an average purse from that era (however much that might be)!

They are lovely though!

I had one. Where it went is anyone's guess. :( Mine was not as pretty as any of these, though.

Those are so gorgeous, i found a beautiful one about a month ago in an antique shop down the street, (I didn't get it)it was in great vintage condition but didn't have as much detail as the ones your showing. It was 50 bucks, I had no clue that they sold for so much.

What charming finds. I haven't been in an antique shop in ages, I love to find good vintage buys.

Super cute purse! I love Vintage items, they seem so much more magical than the crap that everyone has from H&M.

Those purses are beautiful! Things back then were made with so much more detail and elegance.

Wowzers... up to 400 dollars. And to think last year I saw a similar metal purse at goodwill, but passed it up because I didn't want to spent $4 more dollars. Lol!

'Aristotle for everybody' sounds like an interesting read, how are you liking it?
